There are several definitions of the word Mentor, most of which fit Mystic Moon's use of the word, but to eliminate confusion, we have created our own definition of this word. Mystic Moon's definition of the word 'Mentor' follows…
Mentor - An Initiate Priest or Priestess acting as an assistant to the Elder High Priest and Elder High Priestess insofar as relaying initial information, acting as an example of proper behavior, and being tutor and friend to the new Dedicate Seeker they are assigned to.
It is important to remember that the Elder High Priest and Elder High Priestess are always the primary teachers in Mystic Moon Coven. The Mentors are to act as teaching assistants and are not expected to take complete responsibility for the training of the Dedicate Seeker. However, since one of the Mentor's primary responsibilities is to assist the Dedicate Seeker in learning ritual etiquette and to pass on the correct manner of behavior in all Mystic Moon situations, the Mentor will be partially responsible for the actions of the Dedicate Seeker. The Mentor program is not meant to place full responsibility of New Dedicate Seekers on those Initiate Priests and Priestesses assigned as Mentors nor is it meant as a complete training arena. It is intended to provide new Dedicate Seeker with an additional contact person within the coven who will help give them basic information needed to function within the confines of the coven structure.
Some of the main purposes for the Mentor program are listed here…
To more equally distribute the responsibility for relaying information to new Dedicate Seekers.
To provide Initiate Priests and Priestesses with some beginning teaching experience.
To provide more cohesion between the inner circle and outer circle students.
