Guidelines for Dedicates and Initiates
- Dedicates and Initiates shall arrive for class and rituals on
time.
- Dedicates and Initiates shall give significant time and energy to
their lessons, as they are a vital part of the learning process. If the
Elder High Priest/ess feel that the Dedicate or Initiate has not given
adequate thought or energy to their lesson, the Dedicate or Initiate will
be asked to do it over.
- All lessons should be typewritten or neatly printed and readable
and must be completed and returned to the Elder High Priest/ess in a
timely manner. Dedicates or Initiates who do not complete lessons will be
counseled on the importance of the lessons and may be put on probation for
a period of time determined by the Elder High Priest/ess.
- If, for any reason, the Dedicate or Initiate is unable to come to
class, they must contact the Elder High Priest/ess with that information
as well as information as to why they will not be attending. If the
Dedicate or Initiate is going to miss several classes, the same applies.
- If the Dedicate or Initiate is absent from class, it is their
responsibility to ask the Elder High Priest/ess and/or their mentor/mentor
to fill them in on the subject discussed or activities engaged in;
however, that class will not be repeated for them.
- Dedicates and Initiates who miss 4 consecutive classes will
receive verbal notification that their absences have been excessive and
they will be placed on probation for a period of time determined by the
Elder High Priest/ess (unless they have made previous arrangements for
their absences).
- Dedicates and Initiates shall display respect for Mystic Moon, the
Elder High Priest/ess and all individuals within Mystic Moon at all times.
This applies in mundane situations as well as in class or ritual.
- Dedicates and Initiates of Mystic Moon shall not also hold
membership in any other coven unless already hived from Mystic Moon or
unless special dispensation has been given by the Elder High Priest/ess
for such an arrangement to occur.
- If an issue or disagreement arises between the Dedicate or
Initiate and another student, the individuals will be expected to bring it
to the attention of the Elder High Priest/ess and then come to a
resolution between themselves without involving the entire group or people
outside the group. If the Dedicate or Initiate cannot resolve the issue
between themselves, the situation will be handled utilizing the rules for
handling Grievances outlined below. If that fails, the two will be made
‘working partners’ until the situation comes to an amicable resolution.
- If an issue or disagreement arises between a Dedicate or Initiate
and the Elder High Priest/ess, they will be expected to come to a
resolution between themselves without involving the entire group or people
outside the group. They may utilize an agreed-upon neutral party to act as
mediator in an effort to resolve the issue. If the situation cannot be
resolved, the individual will be given freedom to pursue a different group
situation for himself or herself.
- While a Dedicate or Initiate is in class or ritual, their mundane
concerns shall be left where they belong… at home or at work… not in class
or ritual. If the Dedicate or Initiate is unable to do this, they should
ask to counsel with the Elder High Priest/ess prior to class or ritual.
- While in ritual, Dedicates and Initiates shall observe all rules
of ritual etiquette concerning cutting of doorways, respect of the Elder
High Priest/ess, and attention to what is going on in circle.
- Dedicates and Initiates shall not discuss Mystic Moon business or
happenings within the group with anyone outside of Mystic Moon or with
anyone who has not been cleared to receive information by the Elder High
Priestess, Elder High Priest, or the Council.
Any Dedicate or Initiate of Mystic Moon who violates the standards
outlined in the 'Behavior of Mystic Moon Members' shall be subject to disciplinary
action as set forth in the Grievances and Disciplinary Actions.
