Guidelines for Dedicate Seekers
·
A
person becomes a Dedicate Seeker by first attending class and then asking the
Elder High Priest/ess if they can dedicate.
o
If
they are accepted as a Dedicate Seeker the following two things will happen…
1.
The
Elder High Priest/ess will begin counting the Dedicate Seeker's year and a day
from the time they first attended class.
2.
The
Elder High Priest/ess will assign the Dedicate Seeker a tutor from the 2nd
Degree Initiates of Mystic Moon.
- Dedicate Seekers shall stand outside the first three Esbat rituals
they attend and observe.
- After the first three Esbat rituals, and for the remainder of
their year and a day as Dedicate Seekers, they may stand within circle but
will not be asked to take any active role in ritual.
- Dedicate Seekers shall arrive for class, rituals and Sabbats on
time.
- Dedicate Seekers shall give significant time and energy to learning
as much as they can from the classes, the Elder High Priest/ess, and their
tutor as they are a vital part of the learning process; as are the other
students within Mystic Moon.
- If, for any reason, a Dedicate Seeker is unable to come to class
or Sabbat, they must contact the Elder High Priest/ess or their tutor to
let them know the Dedicate Seeker will not be attending and why. If a
Dedicate Seeker is going to miss several classes, the same applies.
- If a Dedicate Seeker is absent from class, it is their responsibility
to ask the Elder High Priest/ess or their tutor to fill them in on the
subject discussed or activities engaged in; however, that class will not
be repeated for the Dedicate Seeker. If a Dedicate Seeker is absent from
an activity (ritual, craft activity or spell-working session) no items
will have been created for them in their absence unless prior arrangements
have been made between them and the Elder High Priest/ess.
- A Dedicate Seeker may request to be placed on the Mystic Moon
e-list after attending 4 consecutive classes.
- Any Dedicate Seeker who misses 4 consecutive classes will receive
verbal notification that their absences have been excessive and will be
removed from the Mystic Moon e-list. The Dedicate Seeker will be
considered ‘on probation’ for a period of time determined by the Elder
High Priest/ess (unless the Dedicate Seeker has made previous arrangements
for their absences). During this time, they will need to consecutively
attend at least 4 classes in order to be eligible for re-subscription to
the e-list.
- Dedicate Seekers shall display respect for Mystic Moon, the Elder
High Priest/ess and all individuals within Mystic Moon at all times. This
applies in mundane situations as well as in class or ritual.
- Dedicate Seekers of Mystic Moon shall not also hold membership in
any other coven.
- If an issue or disagreement arises between the Dedicate Seeker and
any other student(s) in the coven, the individuals are expected to bring
it to the attention of the Elder High Priest/ess. The individuals should
then come to a resolution between themselves without involving the entire
coven or people outside the coven. If the individuals cannot resolve the
issue between themselves, the situation will be handled utilizing the
rules for handling Grievances outlined below. If that fails, the two will
be made ‘working partners’ until the situation comes to an amicable
resolution.
- If an issue or disagreement arises between a Dedicate Seeker and
the Elder High Priest/ess, they will be expected to come to a resolution
between themselves without involving the entire coven or people outside
the coven. They may utilize an agreed-upon neutral party to act as
mediator in an effort to resolve the issue. If the situation cannot be
resolved, the Dedicate Seeker will be given freedom to pursue a different
group situation for himself or herself.
- While a Dedicate Seeker is in class or ritual, their mundane
concerns shall be left where they belong… at home or at work… not in class
or ritual. If they are unable to do this, the Dedicate Seeker should ask
to counsel with the Elder High Priest/ess prior to class or ritual.
- While in ritual, Dedicate Seekers shall observe all rules which
have been presented to them by their tutor and the Elder High Priest/ess
concerning of ritual etiquette (i.e. cutting of doorways, respect of the
facilitating Priest and Priestess, and attention to what is going on in
circle.
- Dedicate Seekers shall not discuss Mystic Moon Coven business or
Coven related mysteries with anyone outside of Mystic Moon or with anyone
who has not been cleared to receive information by the Elder High
Priest/ess and/or the Council of Mystic Moon.
Any
Dedicate Seeker who violates the standards of behavior outlined in the
'Behavior of Mystic Moon Members' shall be subject to
disciplinary action as set forth in the Grievances and Disciplinary Actions
(or immediate expulsion from Mystic Moon Coven, whichever is
deemed most appropriate by the Elder High Priest/ess after receiving
recommendations from the Council of Mystic Moon).
